On "Journeyman", his recent CD, Marc Muellbauer shows himself as virtuoso musician as well as creative sound designer. His band "Kaleidoscope" – excellently casted with nine renowned colleagues – has got what other ensembles often for a long time try to reach in vain: a characteristic band sound, a wonderful personal style. "Journeyman" is an acknowledgement of jazz history while overcoming it at the same time.
